Lisinopril is one of the most common medications that we use for high blood pressure. It is also used in heart failure, diabetic kidney protection, and post heart attack. Most people tolerate lisinopril really well, but in some, it can cause some side effects. Some of them are mild and other side effects can be concerning and you need to watch out for them and take steps to closely monitor it with your doctor. To prevent heart   failure and also it is used to improve survival  after a heart attack. it belongs to a group of   enzyme inhibitors or ace inhibitors. it works   which in turn lowers your blood pressure and   make it easier for your heart to pump blood. in  united states, it goes by the brand name zestril,  

Lisinopril is taken by mouth as a tablet and the  strength are as follows it comes in 2.5 milligram,   5 milligram, 10 milligram, 20 milligram and 40  milligrams. if you have difficulty swallowing,   the tablet can be crushed, or you can take the  liquid formulation which comes in one milligram   per ml. it is taken once a day

With or without  food and it is recommended to take it around the   same time each day. what are the side effects  that you could expect to see from lisinopril,   you can see hypotension or low blood pressure  this usually happens with the first several doses   and the dose may need to be adjusted. also, low  blood pressure

May be due to poor fluid intake.   you can also see dizziness and fainting, this is  a sign that the medication is working too well,   effect of lisinopril is dry hacking cough, this   happens because lisinopril prevents breakdown of  a substance called bradykinin and as it builds up   in your body and lungs it causes some

Irritation  to the throat. the cough goes away in one to four   weeks after the medication is stopped. make sure  to talk to your doctor so that you can be switched   to a different medication. another side effect  is angioedema. this is very rare; it is extreme   swelling of the lips and the tongue the swelling  may cause

Issues with breathing. the lisinopril   which can lead to abdominal pain and diarrhea.   most cases of angioedema occur within the first  week of therapy but may also occur after years   of therapy and black patients are at increased  risk of angioedema. lisinopril can affect your   kidneys. it can cause decreased kidney

Function.  there is increased risk if you have pre-existing   kidney disease. the kidney damage is mostly seen  when lisinopril is taken together with water peels   such as lasix or anti-inflammatory medications  such as ibuprofen and aleve. these medications can   cause a decrease in blood flow to your kidneys.  lisinopril
